Mobile broadband and 'the TV revolution'
Mobile broadband and high speed internet services are revolutionising the way consumers are watching TV, one expert has suggested this week.
A spokesman for Screen Digest, a group which analyses trends in the audiovisual industry, said viewing habits were changing rapidly with more facilities available and more freedom for consumers.
Arash Amel, head of broadband media at Screen Digest, said there was much potential for growth in online video if the services on offer continue to excel in the way that BBC's iPlayer and computer consoles appear to be doing.
"People are able now to watch TV at times they couldn't before, because they don't have to rely on the schedules any more," he said.
Mobile broadband and other internet service users have helped boost ITV.com's viewing figures as the broadcaster reported recently that it had seen a 362 per cent increase in use between January and May this year.
